La Coquille
About This Spot
Stepping into La Coquille, you immediately feel the gentle embrace of a quietly refined neighborhood retreat, where the pace slows just enough to invite a moment of thoughtful indulgence. Soft murmurs swirl around intimate tables, warmed by subtle lighting that beckons you to settle in and savor more than just a meal. This is a place where the air hums with familiarity yet hints at the delicate craftsmanship beneath each plate.
The atmosphere carries a comfortable elegance rooted in tradition and care. It’s the kind of setting where attentive, unhurried service blends seamlessly into the background, allowing the flavors and textures on your plate to take center stage. Whether you choose to dine indoors surrounded by understated charm or outdoors enjoying the gentle breeze and soft chatter, there’s a quiet joy in every detail.
Here, familiar French classics feel thoughtfully recalibrated—not just in taste but in spirit. The kitchen takes pride in balancing rich and subtle, hearty and delicate, making dishes like the French onion soup or the roasted duck feel like warm conversations passed down through generations. The bread arrives with a rustic generosity, inviting shared moments before the main course, while desserts serve up a gentle crescendo of sweetness that lingers between bites and stories.
Patrons often note the welcoming portions—ample without overwhelming—and the sense that each plate is prepared with a particular kind of care that invites you to slow down, savor, and perhaps even linger just a little longer than planned. It is, at its core, a spot where food feeds something deeper: connection, comfort, and a subtle celebration of everyday moments.

This place has some very authentic French cuisine. The French onion soup is absolutely a delight (most other places are too salty, this is just right) with the proper cheese added. Their roast duck and lamb is utterly a delight.

The octopus salad, Sole and the classic duck was delicious. The ambience and service was delightful. The portions were big for me. And lastly their napoleon cake was so light and good. I would come back next time.

We have escargot bourguignonne and crab cake as appetizers. For main, we have Caesar salad with grilled chicken, steak, duck a l'orange, shrimp with fettuccine & grilled chicken. My duck was a bit over done but I still liked it. The skin is a bit crisper. The fettuccine tasted the best. It was nice and garlicky. If I'm not mistaken it may be freshly made pasta. My son's medium rare steak came out over done. Then the 2nd came out within 5 minutes. It was undercooked. Then they had to take it back in the redo. I didn't try the salad nor the chicken. The creme brulee was great. The chocolate mousse for our anniversary gift was also decent. I just don't like chocolate made into anything. It just doesn't taste as good as eating the chocolate alone.

Very nice outdoor seating during the pandemic. Comfortable well prepared food at fair prices. Wonderful bread plate. Great service. Highly recommended.

I ate that liver up like there was no tomorrow. Lobster bisque was great. My fettuccine was decent. There was more vegetables, etc. than pasta on the plate, in my opinion. They had a rolling dessert display, too.

My husband and I had an amazing dinner at La Coquille. Escargots Bourguignonne was so good that we felt like we were dining in France. Baguette was so tasty when you dip in the sauce. I enjoyed warm octopus salad. Packed with flavor and good portion of octopus. Filet of sole en Croute is such a classic dish with touch of beurre blanc. Veal Escalopes was so well cooked and loved pomme purée and chestnut. Loved everything at dessert cart but end up having Napoleon. Service was top notch! We owned restaurants in NYC for over 30 years and my husband is a culinary trained chef, so he doesn’t get impressed easily. He throughly enjoyed the food! When we left, we forgot our bag and the bus person ran out to look for us in parking lot. It shows that staff care about the customers. Had an amazing experience and can’t wait to go back to try other dishes.
